3 Activity Report: Shibuya New Ekiden in Tokyo
Tomoko will share a report on the "Shibuya New Ekiden" held in Tokyo — a traditional road relay race featuring "General Women's Division" and "Junior High School Girls' Division".
Key Insight: Single-discipline events (like running) can serve as an approachable first step to encourage beginners and women to participate safely, as an alternative to the three-discipline format.
4 Committee Meeting Schedule for 2026
Proposal: Regular committee meetings every 2 to 3 months to stay connected and move projects forward effectively.
5 World Triathlon (WT) Updates & Country Reports
- Jenny (also a WT Women's Committee member) to share updates from monthly WT meetings — aligning Asia strategy with global strategy.
- All members to prepare brief reports on their country's Women's Committee activities.

1 Opening & Meeting Logistics
The meeting began with greetings. Tomoko joined from outside the Tokyo Metropolitan Building and thanked members — particularly Maya who had a very busy schedule — for attending on short notice.
Some members including Maysoon had not received the agenda via email. Tomoko shared the agenda link directly in Zoom chat.
Communication channels discussed: Tomoko cannot use WeChat in Japan; Jenny does not use WhatsApp. Agreement: WhatsApp will be used for general communication among other members.
2 AOE Launch Preparation
Launch Target: EB approval confirmed. Official launch targeting March 8th (International Women's Day).
Nomination Package: Need to finalize official letter, PDF guidelines, and digital nomination form. Selection criteria weighting to be updated incorporating Dr. Tareq's suggestions.
Digital Announcement Strategy: Tomoko requested committee's advice and suggestions for social media marketing.
Official Email: Lena suggested using personal emails temporarily if official email setup takes more than a week. Tomoko will contact SG Masa to confirm timeline for womensaward@asiatriathlon.org. If not ready in time, a temporary group email will be created.
3 Committee Operational Policy
Meeting Frequency: Agreed to hold regular meetings every 2–3 months. Next meeting targeted for May.
Inter-meeting Communication: Email and WhatsApp.
4 World Triathlon Updates & Country Reports
WT Alignment: Committee agreed to request Jenny to share regular updates from the World Triathlon Women's Committee to align Asian strategy with global strategy.
Country Reports: All members required to prepare a brief report on their country's Women's Committee activities to share at the next meeting in May.
5 Closing
Tomoko expressed deep gratitude to Maysoon and Lena for their continuous support. Meeting adjourned after exchanging farewells.

Happy International Women's Day!
On behalf of the Asia Triathlon Women's Committee and the Executive Board, we are thrilled to announce the official launch of the inaugural “Asia Triathlon Women's Award of Excellence 2026.”
The Asia Triathlon Women's Award of Excellence aims to promote women's participation and leadership in sports and to advance gender equality across nations and regions. This award seeks to honor individuals or organizations who champion inclusion, equity, and leadership development in the Asian triathlon community.
We strongly encourage all National Federations (NFs) to look within your communities and nominate outstanding candidates. We particularly focus on discovering nominees from regions with limited opportunities for women in sport across Asia.
Award Categories & Criteria
Nominees will be evaluated based on the following five categories:
Nomination Requirements
- Maximum Nominees: Up to 2 nominees per NF.
- Required Documents:
- Profile of the nominee (individual or organization)
- Description of achievements (maximum 500 words)
- Supporting materials (photos, articles, recommendation letters)
- Endorsement letter from the NF or an Asia Triathlon EB member
- Language: All submissions must be in English.
How to Submit & Timeline
The final award announcement and the official Award Ceremony will be held in October 2026, integrated into the program of the Asia Triathlon Women's Cup. Furthermore, outstanding individuals may receive support toward nomination for the World Triathlon Global Award of Excellence.
